🕯 The Zmiiv City Council announces with indescribable pain and sorrow...
Another of our Hero, our fellow countryman, Zmiiv resident — SERGII ARTEMENKO has passed away. He will forever remain 30 years old. Sergii was born on January 19, 1995 in a large family in Zmiiv. He, his brother and two sisters were raised by his grandfather and grandmother, who invested in him all the brightest: humanity, kindness, strength of spirit.
After graduating from Zmiiv Lyceum No. 1, Serhiy entered one of the Kharkiv universities and began his career. He was not afraid of difficulties, worked to support his family, and never gave up despite life's trials. He tempered his body and spirit with sports, and was a student of the Zmiiv Children's and Youth Sports School.
On June 21, 2024, Serhiy joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A platoon commander, an operator of unmanned aerial vehicles, a defender of the sky and the earth, he passed through the hottest spots of the front. He was wounded twice, but each time he returned to the front line, because he believed that defending Ukraine was his duty and honor.
On March 28, 2025, Serhiy died in battle near Demydivka, while performing a combat mission.
Serhiy is survived by his brother, sisters, nephews, and most precious of all, his little son.
The Zmiiv City Council, the entire community, bows its heads in grief with great sadness and boundless gratitude.
We promise to keep the memory of Serhiy alive.
His name will live on in our hearts.
His feat is in our freedom.
His life is in our prayer.
He was a Hero on earth—now he is an Angel in heaven.
Heroes do not die. Eternal glory and bright memory, Sergiy.
The farewell ceremony for Hero Serhiy Artemenko will take place on April 11 at 12:00 near the flagpole in the city of Zmiiv.
Bright and eternal memory to the Hero.
