The Taranivsky BC reported the bitter loss: "On January 6, 2024, while defending the independence of our Motherland, our fellow villager, soldier Andriy Vasylovich Derevyanko, was killed. Born on December 9, 1968, scout of the 2nd reconnaissance detachment of the reconnaissance platoon of the 2nd mechanized battalion of military unit A4698, near the village of Ivanivka, Kupyansky district, Kharkiv region, as a result of mortar shelling by the enemy.

Andriy Vasilyevich died while performing his official duties to ensure the defense of Ukraine, protect the security of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, remaining faithful to his oath, showing steadfastness and courage.

IN MEMORY OF ANDRIY DEREVIANKO

On January 15, the fallen Hero Andriy Derevyanko, who gave his life defending the freedom and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the fight against the Russian occupier, was buried in the village of Taranivka. Andriy was 55 years old...

The man lived his whole life in the village of Taranivka. He was known and respected as a true patriot by his fellow villagers who came to see him off on his last earthly journey. Kind, responsible, purposeful and unfailing - this is how Andriy is characterized by everyone who knew him. He was extremely talented, fond of drawing and sculpture. He did not tolerate injustice and lived according to his conscience.

On July 10, 2022, Andriy stood up to defend his native country. And during his service, according to his commander, he showed his best male traits – strength, courage, determination, and loyalty to his military oath.

Andriy Derevyanko was a scout. He had many successful combat missions. Unfortunately, he did not return from the last one. On January 6, 2024, Andriy Derevyanko was killed as a result of mortar shelling near the settlement of Ivanivka, Kupyanskyi district, Kharkiv region.

"Unfortunately, war takes the best. The flower of the Ukrainian nation, which continues to fight and show its indomitability, dies on the battlefield. I am sure that thanks to Heroes like Andriy, Ukraine will stand and win," said Zmiiv City Mayor Palo Golodnikov at the farewell ceremony. "I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased! Andriy's death is an irreparable loss for the entire Zmiiv community!"
