πŸ•― The Zmiiv City Council, with a heavy heart, announces a heavy and irreparable loss for our community.

Defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, on June 18, 2025, in the Donetsk direction, while performing a combat mission, our compatriot, Senior Sergeant Andriy Gaviley, commander of the 2nd rifle squad of the 1st rifle platoon of the 1st rifle company of military unit A4220, died.

Andriy was born on July 29, 1975 in the village of Veleten. He graduated from a local school, served in the army. He worked at the Chervony Veleten farm, and was educated at the Lypkuvaty Agrarian College.

The fallen Hero is survived by his mother, wife, and daughter Lisa, who also defends our state.

On June 23, in the native village of Veleten, Zmiivska community, the funeral of our defender, Andriy Gavilei, took place.

The 49-year-old senior sergeant, commander of the 2nd rifle division, died on June 18 while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region.

Andriy was born and raised in Veletn, studied at a local school, served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and graduated from the Lypkuvatov Agrarian College. He worked at the "Chervony Veleten" farm, later in construction. He was always hardworking, reliable, and kind.

He is survived by his mother, wife, and daughter, who, like her father, is now defending Ukraine.

Many fellow villagers, fellow soldiers, government officials, and community representatives came to say goodbye to Andriy. He was buried with military honors in his native village.

May the memory of Andriy be blessed.
