Kolesnik Yuri Leonidovich 03/19/1987 - 10/21/2023

🇺🇦ZMIIVSHCHINA LOST ANOTHER SON. ON OCTOBER 28, DEFENDER OF UKRAINE, RESIDENT OF THE VILLAGE OF BIRKY, YURIY KOLESNIK, DEPARTED TO THE HEAVENLY ARMY

Yuriy was born on May 19, 1987 in the village of Birki. He studied at Birkiv comprehensive school. After graduating from it, he entered the Kharkiv Railway Technical School.

On May 26, 2007, he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After demobilization, he started a family. Together with his wife, they raised two children.

The man worked at the Kharkiv Biscuit Factory for almost 14 years.

Yuri had many friends. He valued his family very much. He was a sensitive father, a caring son and brother, a loving and beloved husband. A decent, kind and honest person. He was fond of fishing and cars.

The full-scale invasion of the Russian army in February 2022 caught Yuriy at his place of peaceful labor. On January 29, 2023, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the Omega assault battalion. He underwent training as a senior sapper of engineering and sapper specialists.

From September 19 to October 4, 2023, he underwent training at the training unit of the 1414th Airborne Division under the shortened Marksman 100 training program.

While performing a combat mission on October 21, 2023, he was wounded near the village of Andriyivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. He was hospitalized in the city of Kyiv. Medics fought for the soldier's life until the last moment, but his heart stopped.

Junior Sergeant Kolesnik Yuriy, commander of the 1st assault detachment of the 3rd assault platoon of the 12th assault company of the 4th assault battalion of the VC A0501, died on October 28, 2023 at the National Military Medical Clinical Center in Kyiv.

Yuri is survived by his loving family: mother, wife, two children, and sister.

The Zmiiv City Council expresses its condolences to the Hero's family and friends. Yuriy's death is an irreparable loss for the entire Zmiiv community. We share with you the burning pain of losing the most precious person and bow our heads in grief.

May Yuri's soul find eternal peace in the Kingdom of Heaven.

In memory of Yuri Kolesnik

In the village of Birky on November 2, the last tribute of respect and honor was paid to the defender of Ukraine Yuriy Kolesnik. His heart stopped on October 28 at the Kyiv Military Medical Clinical Center from wounds the soldier received during the battle near Avdiivka.
