Volodymyr Kovtun was taken to his final earthly journey in Zmiyev.

Soldier Volodymyr Kovtun, commander of the 3rd detachment of the 2nd motorized infantry platoon of the 2nd motorized infantry company of the 1st motorized infantry battalion of military unit A1302, died on February 2, 2023 during fierce fighting near the settlement of Klishchiivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.

All this time he was considered missing, remaining among the unknown heroes buried far from home. Only at the end of 2024 did DNA testing return his name. Return him to his family.

And now, on March 10, 2025, Volodymyr is finally home. In his native Zmiiv, he was greeted on his knees. With tears. With flowers. With words that will always hurt: "Thank you, Hero..."

He is forever 36...
