On August 21, Zmiyev said goodbye to the fallen Hero - Oleksandr Minyailo. For two years, the defender was considered missing. His relatives hoped until the last that he was alive. But recently, the worst fears were confirmed. Oleksandr died on March 11, 2022 in battles in the Zaporizhia direction. Today, he returned home on a shield, where he was escorted with honors to his last earthly journey.

Oleksandr Minyailo was born on June 21, 1986 in the village of Butivka. After graduating from Zmiivska Secondary School No. 2, he entered the Petro Vasylenko Kharkiv National Technical University of Agriculture.

After receiving higher education, he went to work for the company "Vikna Modern". He had an active social position, went in for sports and played for the Zmiiv football team "Olymp".

Together with his older brother, in 2014, Oleksandr went to Germany, where he worked in a construction company. The death of his mother in 20219 forced Oleksandr to return to his homeland. Then he decided to join the Territorial Defense of Zmiiv Region, and in 2020 – to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After completing sniper courses, he joined the volunteer battalion "Aydar", which held back the invaders near Volnovakha.

In 2021, Oleksandr will participate in the joint military exercises of Ukraine with NATO countries Rapid Trident-2021 at the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. About 6 thousand servicemen from 15 countries of the world are participating in them.

Oleksandr performs at a high level, arousing admiration from international instructors, and gives commentary not only to Ukrainian but also international TV channels.

On the night of March 10-11, 2022, Oleksandr called his father for the last time. He said that they were trying to break through to the guys in Azovstal. They were surrounded, split into groups and would try to get out... Unfortunately, this was the last time Oleksandr got in touch.

Senior soldier Minyailo Oleksandr, a sniper of the assault detachment of the 1st assault platoon, 5th assault company, VC A 3488, was killed during intensive combat operations on March 11, 2022 in the area of ​​the settlement of Rozivka, Polohiv district, Zaporizhia region.

Oleksandr Minyailo was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "For Military Valor". Posthumously. The Hero was buried in his native land next to his mother.
