The head of the 4th department for conducting special operations of the "KORD" department of the Main Police Department in the Kharkiv region, Getmanov, died while performing a combat mission in the Kupyansk direction on October 5. The officer received gunshot wounds during a gun battle with Russian army soldiers. Despite all the efforts of his comrades who tried to evacuate him to a stabilization point, the policeman's life could not be saved - the soldier died from his wounds.
Police Major Hetmanov dedicated 10 years of his life to service in the special unit "KORD". He held the position of head of the department since March 2022. The policeman turned 35 on September 18. His wife was left without a husband, and his 4-year-old son was left without a father.
The Head of the Main Police Department in the Kharkiv region, Petro Tokar, during his farewell, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased policeman: "Mykola joined the police when he was still very young - he dedicated his life to serving the Ukrainian people. Since 2015, he served in the "KORD" department, saw himself only there, was a true leader and manager, did not doubt the path he had chosen. He never said "no", and as soon as the official task arose that it was necessary to destroy the enemies who had entered the city of Kupyansk, Mykola was the first, not sparing himself, his health, to fulfill the combat order - in a gunfight he covered his comrades, received a mortal wound and died as a Hero. This is a man with a capital letter. We will always remember and keep the memory of him in our hearts, take care of and help his family. My condolences to his son and wife."
Police Major Mykola Hetmanov was buried on the Walk of Fame in Kharkiv.
