The Zmiiv City Council announces with deep pain: Our community has suffered another irreparable loss... On July 15, 2025, the heart of a faithful son of Ukraine, our countryman β€” Oleg Tykhenko, a resident of the village of Zidki, a senior soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stopped.

Oleg was born on February 23, 1969. He studied at the Zidkivska school, acquired the profession of an electric welder. After studying, he served his military service. He began his career at the Zmiiv Machine-Building Plant. He worked as a truck driver for more than 25 years. All his life he was an example of hard work, courage and sincerity.

He was a good son, a reliable brother, a loyal friend, and the best father to his three daughters. He lived for them, dreamed of peace, tranquility, and made plans.

Despite the difficult operation he underwent, Oleg could not stay away when the enemy came to our land. On June 17, 2022, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the UAV electronic warfare unit, performed combat missions, risking his life every day for each of us.

During one of these missions, he was seriously injured. Doctors fought for his life until the last moment... But Oleg's heart stopped in one of the Kyiv hospitals.

The Zmiiv community is in mourning.

We bow our heads to the memory of the man who gave his life for Ukraine.

We mourn together with family and friends, with everyone who knew and loved Oleg.

This is a pain that cannot be soothed with words...

Thank you for everything, Olezhe... You are forever in our hearts.

Glory to the Hero. We remember. We honor. We will not forget.

The time and place of farewell will be announced later.
