π― HZMIYIV CITY COUNCIL ANNOUNCES AGAIN A HEAVY LOSS. IT BECAME KNOWN ABOUT THE DEATH OF OUR COMPANION, COURAGEOUS DEFENDER OF UKRAINE, RESIDENT OF SMT. ZIDKA OLEKSANDR SAVCHENKO
Oleksandr was born on December 2, 1969 in the village of Geniivka. He studied at Geniivka comprehensive school. After graduating in 1985, he continued his studies at vocational technical school No. 31 in the village of Slobozhanske.
When Oleksandr turned 18, the family moved to a permanent place of residence in the village of Butivka. Sashko began his career early - first at the Zmiiv Machine-Building Plant, then worked at the Tarny Combine in Zmiiv.
On February 22, 1992, Oleksandr got married. Together with his wife, they raised two daughters. Since 1998, he and his family have lived in the village of Zidki.
In the 90s, Oleksandr opened his small family business - he supplied household appliances from abroad.
In 2015, Oleksandr volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in hostilities in the East of our country.
After the full-scale invasion of the Russian occupiers, he again takes up arms. Already on February 27, he, along with other volunteers, stands up to defend his native country. During his service, he visited many hot spots.
On August 5, 2022, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor "For the Defense of Ukraine".
On January 27, 2023, he received the Defender of the Fatherland Medal.
May 15, 2023 β medal "For Honor! For Glory! For the People!".
Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Savchenko, chief sergeant-commander of the gun of the 2nd self-propelled artillery platoon of the 1st self-propelled artillery battery of the 2nd self-propelled artillery division of the VC A0501, died on June 5, 2023 near the settlement of Pishchane, Kupyansky district, Kharkiv region, while performing a combat mission as part of a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Until recently, Oleksandr was listed as missing.
The Zmiiv City Council expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased Hero.
In this difficult time for all of us, we share the pain of loss and bow our heads in deep sorrow.
Oleksandr's death is an irreparable loss for his family, friends, our community, and all of Ukraine.
Bright memory and boundless gratitude for loyalty to the Motherland will forever remain in our hearts.
