On November 25, Birky said goodbye to Hero-villager Serhiy Hryhorovych Zinchenko. The 49-year-old defender died in one of the Kharkiv medical centers on November 23 as a result of his injuries.
Serhiy Zinchenko was born on March 8, 1976 in the village of Birky. After graduating from a local school, he received a specialty at the Kharkiv Zoo-Veterinary Institute, dedicating his life to work in the field of agriculture. He had a natural gift for treating animals, was sensitive, attentive, kind and not indifferent to other people's grief. Everyone who knew Serhiy remembers him as a man with a bright soul and a big heart.
In April 2025, Serhiy was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He courageously defended the country as a machine gunner in the 1st mechanized detachment of the 1st mechanized platoon of the 9th mechanized battalion of military unit A 4941.
In July, he was seriously wounded. Since then, he fought bravely for several months for his life, without losing faith and strength of spirit. But on November 23, his heart stopped.
Representatives of the authorities, friends, and fellow villagers came to see the Hero off on his final earthly journey and support the Defender's family.
The warrior's courage and self-sacrifice will become an example for future generations, and his name will forever be inscribed in the history of his native land as a symbol of indomitability and honor.
Eternal memory and glory to Sergius!
Heroes don't die!
