Since August 2024, the border guard inspector of the 2nd category - driver (weapons operator) of the air reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial systems department of the border reconnaissance outpost, border commandant's office of the rapid response of the 4th border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhiy Surovikin has been considered missing. His death was recently officially confirmed. Serhiy died during a combat mission in the area of ​​the settlement of Krasne Pershe, Kupyansky district, Kharkiv region.

Serhiy was born on July 10, 1982 in Kharkiv. He graduated from 9th grade at Kharkiv School No. 53.

After that, he continued his studies at the Patent and Computer College.

From 2002 to 2006, he worked at the printing houses "Deka", "Faktor-Druk" and "Plast-Print".

From 2009 to 2012, he worked as an applied programmer at the Stud-Service company.

In 2013, he graduated from the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, where he received the qualification of a software engineer.

Serhiy loved life very much. He paid a lot of attention to his children. Together with his beloved wife Marina, they raised a daughter and a son.

Serhiy joined the defense of the country in August 2023.

Senior soldier Serhiy Surovikin has proven himself positively during his military service. He was devoted to the people of Ukraine, faithful to his Constitutional duty, and respected and adhered to the traditions of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

From September 7 to November 7, 2023, Senior Soldier Sergey Surovikin carried out measures to ensure national security and defense, repel and deter armed aggression of the Russian Federation, along the front line of the Dvorichansk community of the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region as part of the third department of the border service under the operational subordination of the 3rd separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In order to perform combat missions efficiently, he carried out reconnaissance activities.

In December 2023, he performed combat missions under the command of the commander of the operational-tactical group "Lyman". While in the Serebryany forests of the Luhansk region, together with his comrades, he courageously and selflessly held positions that were constantly under threat of breakthrough from the flanks and encirclement by the enemy.

From January 7 to 20, 2024, Senior Private Serhiy Surovikin defended the village of Ivanovske, Donetsk region, as part of the reserve of the 17th separate heavy mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an active grouping of troops of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, operational-tactical grouping "Soledar" on the territory of the Chasovoyarsk and Bakhmut urban-territorial communities of the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region. Together with his comrades, he performed combat missions at the positions of the company stronghold "League" in the village of Ivanovske, Donetsk region, to repel attacks and prevent the enemy from breaking into the depths of our state.

In February 2024, the border guard returned to the operational subordination of the 3rd separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and continued to defend the village of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region.

From April to July 2024, Senior Soldier Serhiy Surovikin performed combat missions as part of the border reconnaissance outpost of the border rapid response commandant's office of the 4th border detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

From July 31 to August 4, 2024, together with his comrades, senior soldier Sergey Surovikin performed combat missions directly on the line of combat contact at the platoon stronghold "Ararat" in the direction of Krasnoye Pershe in the Kharkiv region. The forces of the occupation forces of the Russian Federation constantly carried out massive shelling of our positions using mortars, artillery and strike drones. Despite the great superiority of the enemy, the border guard courageously held his position and repelled periodic attempts to storm the enemy infantry.

On August 4, 2024 at 01:20, the enemy, unable to seize the position with the help of kamikaze drones, carried out a massive attack on the platoon stronghold "Ararat", where senior soldier Sergei Surovikin was stationed with his comrades. Due to significant damage, destruction and fire, the border guard was considered missing.

After the evacuation of the remains of the serviceman and the conduct of an examination, it was only on December 24, 2024, that the death of senior soldier Sergei Surovikin was officially confirmed.

For personal courage and selfless actions shown in protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Senior Soldier Surovikin Serhiy Vasilyevich was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree (posthumously) .

On December 27, in the village of Veleten, Birkivskyi starostyn district, the fallen Hero-border guard, Sergey Surovikin, was laid to rest. He will forever be 42...

Serhiy had been missing since August 2024. But recently, the worst fears were confirmed – the man was dead.

Serhiy himself is originally from Kharkiv. He moved to the Zmiiv community after getting married, where he lived in Veletnya with his wife, son, and daughter.

By profession, Serhiy was a professional software engineer.

The man stood up for the defense of the country in August 2023.
