Oleksandr Tymchenko was born on February 18, 1999 in the village of Chemuzhivka, Kharkiv Oblast. In 2016, the young man graduated from a local school, after which he joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served under a contract, received the rank of sergeant, and served as a detachment commander for over a year.

On February 23, on the eve of the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksandr's unit was transferred to the outskirts of the village of Tryokhizbenka, in Luhansk Oblast. The very next day, a full-scale war with Russia began.

On February 26, the invaders began to advance on the positions of Ukrainian fighters, among whom was Junior Sergeant Timchenko. The Russians began to massively fire on the positions of the National Guardsmen. Oleksandr Timchenko took up a firing position, allowing his comrades to leave the area of ​​​​defeat. In addition to covering the withdrawal of Ukrainian fighters, the guy managed to hit an armored vehicle of the invaders with a grenade along with the infantry.

The battle lasted no more than 10 minutes and cost the junior sergeant his life - a Russian mine exploded next to him, and the guy received injuries incompatible with life. But Oleksandr helped his unit break out of the encirclement and restrain the advance of the invaders. The National Guardsman was only 23 years old.

Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Tymchenko was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, III degree, was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and was awarded the Order of the Gold Star.

There is a street in the Zmiivska community named after the Hero of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tymchenko. A fighter from the village of Chemuzhivka, a 23-year-old National Guardsman, who in the first days of the invasion destroyed an enemy armored vehicle, held back a tank column, and died saving his own people.
