IN MEMORY OF MAXIM TKACHENK
On April 2, the Zmiiv community accompanied its Defender, Maksym Tkachenko, to his final journey.
The 22-year-old soldier was considered missing for almost four years. Relatives and friends of the latter believed in a miracle, but the results of the DNA examination confirmed the most painful truth. Maxim returned home forever.
Representatives of local authorities, educators, friends, and comrades came to say goodbye to the Hero and support his family. During the ceremony, Maxim's mother was presented with a state award - the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree, which the soldier was awarded posthumously.
Maksym Tkachenko was born in Zmiiv, studied at Zmiiv Lyceum No. 1, played sports, was active, inquisitive, and sincere. From a young age, he dreamed of military service. In 2021, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and at the beginning of 2022, he received the profession of a sapper-miner.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he stood up for the defense of his native Kharkiv region. During the battles for Izyum, he showed courage and selflessness - under fire, he rescued his comrades from a downed helicopter.
He served as a grenade launcher in the airborne assault detachment. Together with his unit, he heroically held the defense in the Luhansk region. On May 5, 2022, faithful to his military oath, Maksym died while performing a combat mission near the city of Rubizhne.
The Zmiiv City Council expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased Hero.
Bright memory and eternal respect to the Defender of Ukraine.
🕯️ Forever in our hearts.
