🕯🇺🇦Among the first ATO soldiers who, at the call of their hearts, went to war were our countrymen. Without any hesitation, they went to defend Eastern Ukraine from Russian militants. That war took the lives of many of our countrymen.

Let's remember today one of them - the deputy commander of the grenade launcher platoon of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade Yevhen Zernii. Yevhen was born on April 26, 1977 in the village of Birky, Zmiivska community. On August 7, 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After seven months of heroic struggle against the Russian aggressor, on February 5, 2015, a true patriot of Ukraine, Sergeant Zernii, was killed during mortar shelling near the village of Luhanske, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.

Yevhen is survived by his wife and son. The Hero was buried in his native village of Birky, where a memorial plaque in his honor was unveiled.

By the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated May 23, 2015, "for personal courage and high professionalism shown in protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath", he was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree (posthumously).

Unfortunately, war takes the best. Eternal memory! Heroes never die!

Eternal memory and eternal glory to the Hero!🇺🇦
