With deep pain and sadness, the Zmiiv City Council announces a grave loss for our community.

While performing a combat mission to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, our compatriot, a courageous warrior, Defender of Ukraine — Serhiy Mykolayovych Zubko — died.

Private Serhiy Zubko served as a rifleman-medic in the 2nd assault detachment of the 1st assault platoon of the 12th assault company of the 4th assault battalion of military unit A0501. Faithful to his military oath, he courageously and selflessly fulfilled his duty to his Motherland.

Serhiy Mykolayovych joined the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine in March 2022. Since then, he has served faithfully, showing steadfastness, courage, and true patriotism.

On February 18, 2024, near the settlement of Ivanovske, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, while performing a combat mission, his life was cut short by war. He was 50…

He gave the most precious thing — his life — for the peaceful future of Ukraine, for the freedom and independence of our state, for the security of each of us.

This is an irreparable loss for family, friends, brothers and sisters and the entire Zmiiv community. It is impossible to find words that could soothe the pain of loss. We sincerely share the grief of the family, grieve with you and bow our heads in deep mourning.

The bright memory of Serhiy Mykolayovych Zubko will forever remain in our hearts, in the memory of the community, and in the history of the Ukrainian people's struggle for their freedom.

Eternal memory and glory to the Hero of Ukraine.

The burial ceremony of the fallen Hero will take place on Monday, March 9, at 12:00 near the Taraniv House of Culture.

IN MEMORY OF SERGEY ZUBKO

On March 9, Ukrainian defender Serhiy Zubko was taken to his final earthly journey in the village of Taranivka.

For two years, his family lived in hope. Since February 18, 2024, Serhiy has been considered missing. Unfortunately, recently, the results of a DNA examination confirmed the most terrible thing - the soldier died while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Ivanovske, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.

Relatives, friends, brothers, representatives of local authorities, and fellow villagers came to see the Hero off on his final journey.

Serhiy Zubko was born on July 17, 1973 in the village of Taranivka. He spent his childhood here, where he studied at a local school. Later, he received a specialty at the Kharkiv Radio Engineering School, as well as the profession of a driver-mechanic at the Izyum Technical School. After military service, he worked on the railway, and for more than ten years at the Turboatom plant as a 6th-category slinger.

He was a loving father, a caring son, and a reliable support for his family.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Serhiy did not hesitate to defend Ukraine. On March 25, 2022, he was enlisted in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a private, a rifleman-medic in the 92nd separate assault brigade. He defended his native Kharkiv region, and later performed combat missions in the Donetsk direction.

Now he has returned home forever.

The bright memory of Serhiy Zubko will live on in the hearts of his family, brothers and all who knew and respected him.
